Do you know anyone with ADHD? Want to go to a party supporting research- the ADHD Climbing to a Cure – Mark Seril Fund for ADHD Genetic Research foundation? A friend of IM=X Pilates Blue Bell, Jean Wilson, is hosting just such a party next Saturday, March 28. We have removed her address and phone number to protect her privacy here on the internet, so if you’d like to come party with us just let the studio know. Here’s her email invitation:

Hi Everyone,

As most of you know, I’ve been involved for many years as an advocate in many arenas for children with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) which affects both Colleen and Lauren – a disorder that is unusual for girls. I have also been very interested for many years in research in to the causes of ADHD and how can we give both children and adults better lifelong outcomes.  For example, Colleen is the dreamer while Lauren is the “I see, I do” and has no brakes.  Their ADHD presented them with significant stumbling blocks as they attempted not only to learn in a traditional educational environment despite high IQs but also to mature socially.

Their disorders have pulled me in to the ADHD world since Lauren was five years old and I first joined CHADD, a parent support group.  Since then, I’ve been a parent advocate and a speaker at numerous ADHD conferences at Children’s Hospital. I am currently working with a genetic research foundation that benefits ADHD research at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.  This foundation, ADHD Climbing to a Cure – Mark Seril Fund for ADHD Genetic Research, seeks to explore the genetic roots of this disorder and to raise awareness of the impact of this life-long genetic disorder on both children, adults and their parents. It is quite clear that those diagnosed with ADHD can readily see the direct hereditary links to their disorder.

We have decided that the best way to support research in to this disorder and to spread the word on the progress that is occurring in this field every day is to have a party.  The party will be at my house in Villanova on Saturday night, March 28th, 7:30 p.m.  We’ll have appetizers, beverages, desserts, entertainment and lots of fun.  All of this will only cost you $20.  All monies raised will go directly to the ADHD Genetic Research Foundation.  Where else can you find such a deal in today’s economy????

As an added incentive Michael Kaufman will perform songs from his new CD (which will be available for $5 with proceeds going to the foundation as well).  Dr. Jo Elia from Children’s Hospital, my life saver over and over again as well as the girls’ savior, is planning to join us as well.  She is one of the very few researchers on the genetic component of ADHD and her expertise is world renowned. She’ll be happy to answer any questions you might have as well as tell you what she has uncovered in her research – results that are currently being published in research journals worldwide. Mark you calendars and come on over for an evening of music, friends and the opportunity to learn something new!!!

Let me know if you can make it and feel free to bring a friend.  You can purchase tickets at the door or ahead of time by -contacting the studio-. I really hope you can come!!!  It should be a very special evening.
